"The mistake most borrowers make is comparing the monthly payment alone. The right comparison is APR plus origination fee — that's the true cost of money. We help you cut through the noise."

Why Compare Loan Offers Through a Marketplace
Calling banks one at a time costs hours and only shows you one lender's price. With LendingsTree's loan comparison marketplace, you fill in a single short form and our partner network of 500+ lenders gets to compete for your business. You see real prequalified offers — APR, monthly payment, term, and any origination fees — laid out side-by-side. Then you pick the one that fits.
Our marketplace covers the full spectrum of consumer credit products — personal loans, debt consolidation, mortgage and refinance, home equity loans and HELOCs, auto loans and auto refinance, and small business loans. The same comparison engine pulls offers across every category, so you can shop one product or compare across products to find the cheapest path to what you need. The model is similar to LendingTree, NerdWallet, and other major loan comparison sites — with our own network of partner lenders and a privacy-first approach to soft credit checks.
Because it's a soft credit check at the comparison stage, looking at your options doesn't move your score. A hard inquiry happens only if you go forward with a specific lender. That makes shopping cheap (in fact, free) and risk-free for your credit.

Compared offers and beat her bank's APR
I needed about $14,000 to redo my kitchen and the rate my own credit union offered was higher than I expected. I filled in the LendingsTree form once and within a few minutes I had three real prequalified offers side by side. One of them was almost two percentage points lower than what my bank quoted. I went with that lender, closed in four business days, and the only thing that surprised me was how easy it was to actually compare side by side. I did get one phone call and a couple of emails from lenders I didn't pick, which is the trade-off — but for the savings it was worth it.

Consolidated three credit cards into one fixed payment
Between three credit cards I was paying about $740 a month in minimums and the APR on two of them was over 26%. I used the marketplace to compare consolidation offers and ended up with a 4-year fixed loan that cut my monthly outflow by roughly $230 and gave me an actual payoff date. The whole prequalify step did not touch my credit score. The hard inquiry came later when I formally accepted the lender's offer. Honest note: a couple of the lenders that pre-qualified me kept emailing for about a week after I picked one, but it died down.

Compared business loan terms without calling six banks
I run a six-person print shop and needed working capital to take on a bigger contract. Calling banks one at a time was eating my week. Through LendingsTree I got three small-business offers in one sitting — a traditional term loan, a line of credit, and an SBA-style option — and could actually compare amount, APR, term and origination fee in the same view. I picked the line of credit. Worth noting: the offers were from real lenders with real underwriting, so two of them came back with smaller amounts than I requested. That is normal, just be ready for it.

Got four refi offers and saved on closing costs
Rates dropped a bit and I wanted to see what a refi would look like without doing four separate applications. I got four prequalified offers and the spread between best and worst was about half a point on APR, plus roughly $1,800 difference in closing-cost estimates. I locked with the one that combined the lowest APR with no points and was funded in 27 days. The platform itself is a comparison tool — the lender does the actual underwriting, so I still had to send pay stubs, tax returns, the usual.

Refinanced his truck loan, cut interest by 3.4 points
My truck loan was at 9.1% from the dealer two years ago. My credit had improved so I figured I could do better. Through the marketplace I got two refinance offers — one credit union and one online lender — both well under what I was paying. Picked the credit union, dropped to 5.7%, saving about $42 a month and a lot more over the remaining term. The only catch: my original loan had a small prepayment thing that ate into the first month's savings. Nothing the marketplace could have known about, but worth checking yourself.

Found a lender that worked with 1099 income
As a freelancer with variable income I was nervous about applying anywhere — one rejection feels like five. The soft-pull prequalify let me see who would actually consider self-employed income before I committed. Two of the five lenders I was matched with were fine with my situation, one wasn't, and the others wanted more documentation. I picked the one with the cleanest terms (no origination fee, fixed APR, 36-month term). Funded in two business days. Honestly more useful than rate-shopping one bank at a time.
Loan Comparison Questions, Answered
Quick answers on how the marketplace works, credit impact, and what to expect.
Personal Loans & Debt Consolidation Side-by-Side
Two of the most-compared products on the platform. Similar mechanics, very different use cases.
Fixed-rate borrowing for life's specifics.
A personal loan is a fixed-rate, fixed-term loan, typically unsecured. You receive a lump sum at closing and repay it in equal monthly installments. Lenders in our network offer personal loans from $1,000 to $50,000 with terms from 24 to 84 months — and APRs that depend on your credit, income, and the lender.
- Home improvement — kitchens, roofs, HVAC. Often cheaper than putting the work on credit cards or a HELOC.
- Medical expenses — fixed payment schedules let you plan the payoff.
- Major life events — weddings, relocations, anything where the cost is one-time.
- Unexpected emergencies — same-day funding from many lender partners.
The math of getting out from under credit cards.
Most credit cards charge variable APRs of 18–29%, and minimum payments are designed to keep you paying for years. A debt consolidation loan replaces those balances with one fixed-rate installment loan — usually 6.99%–17% APR for borrowers with fair-to-good credit — with a defined payoff date.
Example: $20,000 in card debt at 24% APR, making $400 minimum payments, takes more than 10 years to pay off and costs roughly $19,000 in interest. The same balance consolidated at a 12% APR over 48 months costs about $5,250 in interest. That's not a guarantee — your actual rate depends on credit and lender — but it shows why people compare.
- Fixed APR for the life of the loan (no surprise rate hikes)
- One monthly payment instead of three or five
- Clear payoff date — usually 36 to 60 months
- Many lenders will pay creditors directly at closing
Mortgage, Home Equity, Auto & Business Loans Compared
The marketplace also covers the bigger and more specialized loans — where comparing matters even more.
Mortgage & Refinance
Purchase loans, refis, FHA, VA, and conventional. Compare points, APR, and closing costs from multiple mortgage lenders side-by-side. With a six-figure loan over 30 years, a quarter point on APR is real money.
Compare Mortgage OffersHome Equity & HELOC
Choose between a fixed home equity loan (one lump sum, fixed payment) or a HELOC (revolving line, variable rate). The right answer depends on whether you need predictability or flexibility.
Compare Home Equity OffersAuto Loans & Refinance
New, used, or refinance an existing car loan to a better rate. Credit unions and online lenders frequently beat dealership financing — but you have to compare to know.
Compare Auto OffersSmall Business Loans
Term loans, lines of credit, equipment financing, and SBA-style options from a network of small-business lenders. From $5K to $5M depending on your business profile.

Move the sliders. Real rates from real lenders will appear after you submit the request form — but this shows the shape.

Loan APR Ranges by Credit Profile
Illustrative ranges only. The marketplace shows you real prequalified rates from individual lenders — these are what to expect in the ballpark.
| Credit Profile | Score Range | Personal Loan APR | Auto Refi APR | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Excellent | 720+ | 6.99%–13% | 5.49%–8% | Most lenders compete aggressively |
| Good | 670–719 | 10%–18% | 7%–11% | Multiple offers, decent spread |
| Fair | 620–669 | 15%–25% | 10%–15% | Comparing matters most here |
| Below 620 | 580–619 | 22%–35.99% | 14%–24% | Some lender partners only |
Ranges are illustrative and vary by lender, state, loan amount, and other factors. Actual rates and approval depend solely on the lender. Not an offer of credit.
Loan Glossary — Key Terms Explained
Quick definitions of the financial terms that appear in your offers. Bookmark this for reference when comparing.
- Loan comparison marketplace
- An online service that matches a single borrower request to multiple lender partners and returns prequalified offers side-by-side — letting borrowers compare APR, monthly payment, term, and fees from several lenders without applying separately at each one. LendingTree, LendingsTree, NerdWallet, Credit Karma, and Bankrate are examples.
- APR (Annual Percentage Rate)
- The annual cost of borrowing including the interest rate plus most lender fees (especially origination). The apples-to-apples comparison number when shopping a lending tree loan across multiple lenders.
- Soft credit inquiry
- A credit check that doesn't affect your credit score and isn't visible to other lenders. Used by lending tree loan marketplaces at the comparison stage so you can see real prequalified offers without committing.
- Hard credit inquiry
- A formal credit check that appears on your report and typically lowers your score by 3–10 points for a few months. Occurs only when you formally apply with a specific lender after seeing your lending tree loan offers.
- Origination fee
- A one-time lender fee for processing the loan, typically 1–8% of the loan amount. Usually deducted from your disbursement or rolled into the loan balance. Included in the APR calculation.
- Prequalified offer
- A real loan offer from a specific lender based on a soft credit check and the information you provided. Not a final approval — formal approval requires a hard pull and full underwriting — but a reliable estimate of what the lender will offer.
- Rate-shopping window
- A 14- to 45-day period (depending on credit-scoring model) during which multiple hard inquiries for the same type of loan are treated as a single inquiry for scoring purposes. Makes lending tree loan comparison safe even at the formal-application stage.
- Debt-to-income (DTI) ratio
- Total monthly debt payments divided by gross monthly income. Most lenders prefer DTI of 40–45% or below when underwriting a lending tree loan.
